Women’s International Day- Be Strong!

Today is International Women’s Day. What does that mean for you? For me? For me, it is about women speaking up for themselves in society, in the household; being strong mentally and physically; and finally being role models for other women and children.  So I will start with the latter… This week we started a new 5 week kid and teen series. It is always fun to work with your children.  I look as myself as a role model for your children; being courteous, understanding, caring, determines, motivating. But you, as their mothers are then most important.  I’ve been very excited to see interspersed throughout our classes this week,  teenagers coming in with their moms. How inspiring; moms and daughters coming together.

So young kids often get the opportunity to try different activities… Ballet, gymnastics,  soccer, swimming  and even my three year old tried the new Ninja class. As kids, these classes are fun, enjoyable and at the same time, the exercise we need.  As we grow older, we may not be continuing the same activities we did in our youth. But it is even more important now.  It’s that much more important to find an activity that makes us feel free empowered, strong and happy, for not just ourselves and our well-being but also for our kids. I found barre at the right time.  I danced all my life in a pre-professional ballet program and once that was over I felt completely lost; until I found Barre. It was a workout that made me work harder, and I enjoyed it. So when opening the studio, I thought, let’s empower women to feel stronger. This strength we build physically transfers to our mental state.  This mental strength brings me to the strength I see in all of you. Every day I am impressed with learning more about everyone in class and their lives outside the studio. You are all so unique; other business owners, ones with ideas to grow and create communities, moms juggling all the activities in daily life, community leaders, dedicated professionals in all sorts of amazing fields and then a big prop to all our students!  Looking at all of you, we are some strong women in society. The strength we build in barre is the strength we carry out in our every day lives. We do this for ourselves, but also for our youth and for our communities. Let’s stand together and show how strong and powerful we really are and never hesitate to speak up! Continue to be strong; be a role model for other women and children and be proud of you you are, where you are from and where you are going! Let’s continue to support each other for we are all women.  Be Strong. Be Positive. Be Happy. Be You.

Happy Women’s International Day!
