Client Spotlight: Amy Morgan
This month’s Client Spotlight here at M.O.M.s Method is Amy Morgan. Amy and her two older children, William and Charlotte, have been a part of the M.O.M.s family since the beginning, only taking a short break when she gave birth to her third child, Jonathon. Amy has consistently been a source of inspiration during class- always striving to become her better self, and always with a loving smile on her face.
While pregnant with Jonathon, Amy developed a condition called Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction, or SPD. This condition occurs when the joint that connects the two halves of the pelvis together and keeps them steady during activity becomes overly relaxed, allowing the pelvic girdle to become unstable. This leads to pain and inflammation.
Read on to see how M.O.M.s Method exercises can help combat this condition, and are helping Amy become stronger than ever!
When did you first start taking M.O.M.s Method Classes?
I started taking at M.O.M.s in January, so I was about 32 weeks pregnant.
What got you “hooked” on M.O.M.s Method Classes?
It was that the exercises we do class have so much to with what my physical therapist was telling me to do. [By taking class] I was getting stronger at the same point my Physical therapist said my SPD would make it so I could no longer walk or do a lot of things, and that it would take 8 months to heal. I didn’t want to believe any of that. Then she gave me some exercises and when I tried this class it was so many of the same moves, like the clam and the bridge [back dancing] and tucking, which would keep my pelvis from moving all over the place. I was exercising, so I was actually getting stronger while I was still ‘injured’ so to speak. Then I kept going throughout the post-partum period and the last 4 months now, and my pelvis is back to normal- which they said wouldn’t really ever happen, so that’s what hooked me big time!

Have you seen changes in your physique?
Yes, I am not yet where I want to be, but yes I have definitely seen changes and am getting stronger and that’s the best part.
How often do you take class?
I try to take them three days a week, if the kids will allow
How do your children like M.O.M.s Munchkin care?
They love it! They call it the pink gym, and think it’s the best gym ever
Have you ever taken a barre class before M.O.M.s?
No, or ballet except when I was 2, and I’m better at doing a split than I ever thought I could be, and releve, I couldn’t do it at all in the beginning but now I can.
Do you have any goals set for yourself in class?
By the end of this month my goal is to go through a whole class without having to cheat – the hardest is the plank moves, of course the core after having a baby, so I’ve been trying to do that 5 days a week even when I’m not here so hopefully I can get through a full class without having to stop!
What makes M.O.M.s Method special for you?
I love it. I love how Orlee says “if you need to take a break, do it! Then come back stronger” And the quote on the wall: your body can do anything, it’s your mind you have to convince; I was meditating on that during labor & now when I want to give up! And I love that I couldn’t do this without having that personal attention. Because even with a mirror I’ll think that my body is doing something and it’s not- I’ll think that my knee is square and it’s not, and I don’t think I’d be able to keep doing it without injuring myself. I’m of course sore and tired after the baby, but at least I know I’m not going to hurt myself and I see now why if you don’t have the right form you don’t see results. But you have someone watching your form you do, and that’s what makes it feel like a real boutique.

Thank you so much, Amy, for sharing your story with us! We are so proud watching you grow stronger each day, and we know you will reach all your goals.
Lots of M.O.M.s Love,
The Team
