Client Spotlight- Mackenzie
I distinctly remember Mackenzie’s first day at the studio. She came to our Beginner “Be” Workshop series along with many other new faces. It was a full beginner class and could have easily been lost amongst the other many new barre beauties joining the series. However, she stood out. She maybe tried to “hide” as many do; in the left corner of the studio, where she generally still likes to stand today, but she how could this blonde beauty be lost in the crowd? But the more I get to know Mackenzie, she is beautiful not only on the outside but with her contagious smile, she lights up the room; I guess that is why she works in the hospital setting taking care of patients throughout her week. After a few more beginner classes, I noticed Mackenzie always worked hard, pushed herself and seemed to enjoy coming for more barre burn. It was time to convince her that she could totally do any mixed level barre class. Sometimes, we need a little push! Right?!! The biggest challenge at first was not whether she could do a mixed level barre class, but was whether her son would survive munchkin care! Well, yes! It was a success! As mothers, it is natural for us to be worried about the tears, the transition and something new, but Mackenzie’s little guy is a pro! He loves munchkin care room and we love having him. So now, Mackenzie can come to the studio whenever it fits in between her work schedule! I love this Barre Beauty! She comes on her days off during the day for a one barre burn, and doubles up with a night time stretch too. She also takes advantage of all the classes, we offer to get a good variety in her workout. In her time with us, about 6 months, she is very close to 100 club…and I just love having her here. She is motivated which motivates me but most of all she embodies that beautiful mind over matter spirit in her workout, at home and at work. Keep up the great work Mackenzie! nRead below to learn more about what Mackenzie says about us!
When did you first start coming to Barre + Beyond ( Mind Over Matter Method Barre Classes)?
In January 2017, a friend talked me in to signing up for the Beginner Barre workshops with her. I did not know much about Barre and have zero dance experience, so I was a little hesitant. But, she reassured me that it would be a great work out and I had a trip to Mexico at the end of the month that I was motivated to slim down for. So, it was perfect timing for me to try something new!
What got you “hooked” on Mind Over Matter Method Classes?
I was hooked almost immediately on the Barre + Beyond classes and quickly went from just taking the workshops on Saturdays to signing up for the unlimited class package so I could go more frequently. I have always had a love and hate relationship with exercise, which I partially attribute to never finding that one thing that I have felt comfortable and confident doing. Once I was introduced to Barre, that feeling has changed tremendously. I look forward to and NEED to exercise now! From the moment I walked into Barre + Beyond, I felt empowered and confident. The instructors are so positive and encouraging as they guide you through the workouts, all while challenging you to become your stronger and healthier self. Orlee and her staff are welcoming to everyone; body size, age, and athletic ability makes no difference. I remember being so impressed that all the instructors make the effort to remember and greet everyone by name from their first class on. They make you feel like you can do anything and the best part is they genuinely care and want to see you succeed.
Have you seen changes in your physique?
I have definitely seen changes in my physique, even my husband has noticed! I have seen a huge increase in my energy level and am happily down 17 pounds and several inches since starting Barre. It has also made a noticeable difference in muscle definition and tone. The biggest change for me though has been on the inside; more self-confidence and an overall happier and positive outlook. My decision to take that one hour out of the day for Barre has not only been great for me, but for my family has well. My two year old son loves to come to class with me to meet and play with new friends in Munchkin Care!
How often do you take class?
I try to take class as much as I can and now that my son also enjoys going it makes it so much easier for me! I usually go about 4 to 6 times a week.
Have you ever taken a barre class before Barre + Beyond?
No! Barre was completely new to me.
Do you have any goals set for yourself in class?
My first goal was to try out all of the classes offered by Barre + Beyond. As of now, the only one left for me to get to is Barre Out which I can’t wait to do now that we are finally seeing more sunshine! I was pleasantly surprised that my favorite class to take is Barre Interval. I love the challenging cardio aspect of the class and Elizabeth sure knows how to get the sweat rolling! My biggest goal remains to complete an entire thigh workout section without having to “take a break and come back stronger”. The burn is real!!
What would you tell someone that is hesitant to try a class?
Find a workout friend to go with and just do it!! I have never experienced a more supportive and non-judgmental workout environment full of women in my life. If you try it, I am confident that Barre + Beyond and the instructors will positively change your life as they have mine!
Cheers to Mackenzie! …and I have to shout out and thank, her life long friend, Ashley, for bringing her to us! We love you both and love even more that you get to work out together and catch up!
Sharing Barre Love,
Orlee
