I Challenge You!
I LOVE MAKEUP. Every morning, even to go workout, I have to put on my eyeliner, blush and lipstick. I might be a rarity in this phenomenon of wearing makeup to exercise, but I feel more confident about myself when I do. I just want to “look” good. It’s not for anyone else but for me. For the same reason I wear makeup, I am in love with my designer active wear that slim/ lift in just the right areas. Makeup, the right pants, cute hair all make me feel better about myself. If I like the way I look, I actually feel better and ultimately, I am happier.
But the link between fitness, my figure and my face go way beyond looks. The way I take care of my body is the same way I feel about taking care of my skin. I exercise and eat right just like I moisturize and wear sunscreen. Ok, let’s be honest. I slip up. We all do. Sometimes, I wish I could hide behind the makeup and slimming exercise pants, but then I am not being honest with myself. We all know what we should do but we are human. We don’t always eat our vegetables and use sunscreen. Slip-ups are only natural but as I grow older, raise my girls and run the studio, I realize more and more, I need to do the right thing for not to please anyone else but myself.
Be Strong. Be Positive. Be Happy. Be You. It’s a saying on the wall above the barre at the studio. These inspirational quotes, some serious, some cute, some trendy, surround us while we do our workout. I’m excited that Simko Signs will be making more of these for our new location in Valparaiso to share with all our clients old and new. The goal continues to be to create an inspiring environment for women to achieve not only a physical strength but also a mental strength; a toughness that carries beyond the studio into everyday life. But the workout itself, the great new friends we make and the cute décor in the studio is only part of the puzzle of why we decide to get up in the morning to come to class. It is hard. We have many obstacles every day.
However, you all have this one trait that we need to find within us. This value is “Discipline” and more specifically “Self-Discipline” the ability to make yourself do something that should be done. We challenge ourselves every day to do the right thing; eat well, exercise, moisturize and even when we do not feel well. We have exciting events, workshops and new classes to keep you motivated, but the first step starts with you and your self-discipline. So here I am challenging you starting today!
- Make the right meal choice. You and your friend may have different ideas of what is right. Find YOUR right, not your friend’s right.
- Take that extra step to put on sunscreen on in the morning. It’s SUNNY! Yay! It’s Skin Cancer Awareness Month so let’s do the right thing; especially with summer right around the corner. (Get Elta MD at The Center for Facial Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery 219-878-5031)
- Put on some Make-up, do your hair and get those designer activewear leggings that you have been eyeing. You deserve it and your bottom will like it!
- Take class at Barre + Beyond! It’s beautiful out so you can take Barre Out at 6pm or come to CORE & Ball at 7:15 tonight. Let’s do this!
Do these four things & you will be sure to feel better. Do it for yourself.
