It's ok to take a break and come back stronger!

Over this past weekend, my parents came to visit from the DC area to see the grandkids, spend a birthday and holiday weekend with us. We had a great weekend doing all sorts of wonderful Fall things together; going to the market, apple picking and just spending time together as a family which is rare. But the one thing I was really looking forward to was my mom, my inspiration, taking my barre-yoga fusion class with me. She’s a “yogi”and I had planned it to be last weekend when I knew she was coming. But this trip, my mom didn’t step foot into my studio. I was a bit disappointed at first, but then she explained she was taking a little break. Breaks are ok and I must be sensitive to the fact that everyone needs a break once in a while. I missed having her in class and would have loved to have her.  But it’s okay when your body says it’s time to take a break. We talked more about it, and she took her break but she needs to get back into some routine for her health. We spoke this morning and I was so happy to hear that she started back and took a class this morning. What was difficult was that she wasn’t where she was when she left. That is understandable. Her body needed a break, yes, but she won’t bounce back and she will need to work back up to the level she was at before.  It will not happen over night. So I’m telling you about this family talk because I want you know to know that I will never judge you when you take a break. Breaks are okay and sometimes necessary to come back stronger.  I will miss seeing your beautiful smile but know that I will be so happy when you come back. Many of us were so diligent during Burn at the Barre, and then with school, new routines, vacations, we perhaps have not figured out our routine again. Well, it’s time to figure it out and come back to class. It’s okay to take that break and come back rejuvenated!
