Self Discipline: The road may be hard, but the results are priceless.
Self Discipline:
The road may be hard, but the results are priceless.
Holidays are over and winter is officially here. Salt trucks, frozen fingers, wet socks, and the ‘I just want to hang in my PJ’s’ feeling. I was in the carpool lane today, talking to my mother as I wait for school to dismiss; which by the way is on my new year’s resolution list to call her more; and she rambles on about the when and the how and the before and the after of going to her exercise class.

Whew…Do you get the feeling of how exhausting these conversations can be? However, this time, I was actually paying attention. My mother has several health conditions, one of which is Type 1 Diabetes, so nutrition and exercise is part of her daily life. Almost every conversation is about fitness, which works for me since I own a boutique fitness studio. But this time, our seemingly random conversation inspired me to write this blog.
She spoke of meeting a friend with the same condition as her but is not doing so well. So what is the difference when the medication is the same? It is one trait that separates her from her friend. This trait helps her get up every day to exercise no matter how she is feeling, the weather outside or the work that needs to get done. It is a trait that we all have within.
This value is “Discipline” and more specifically “Self-Discipline” the ability to make yourself do something that should be done. So this New Year, I want you to challenge yourself again. Our “Barre all excuses” holiday challenge is over but we have a new set of challenges with weather, sickness and just Mr. Winter.

This winter, I want to challenge you to Be Your Better Self and find the self discipline to do what needs to be done. Here at M.O.M.s, Your “Mind Over Matter Studio” , we will try even harder to create an environment that will help inspire you, motivate you and challenge you. We have exciting events, workshops and new classes to keep you motivated, but the first step starts with you and your self-discipline.

I am inspired by my mother every day and she is the reason I opened the doors of NWI’s very own barre studio. So let your mother or M.O.M.s or whatever it is that motivates you, help you make 2015 a better year than the year before. Find that self-discipline within to make it to class and create the “Sculpted Body and Strong Mind.”
All M.O.M.s Love,
Orlee
