Why Barre Out?
Two years ago, we added our outdoor barre class as an opportunity for new moms to get out, workout, and meet other moms with their babies in tow. Moms could bring their strollers, walk or run, and then lock the stroller and start their barre exercise by holding onto their “Barre”. Then Julie Bombacino, our 500 club member, reminded me that it doesn’t have to be someone with a baby or a stroller. She would do the same thing and when it came down to doing the barre exercises, she just held onto the benches or the posts at the park. So then our class morphed into one that both stroller ladies and non-stroller ladies, could go and get some fresh air, get in a cardio workout coupled with the toning and sculpting of our barre class. For me, the thought of running is horrifying. I know I am in “good” shape but for me “running” is always short lived. I can run a little but then lack the stamina in my breadth to keep going. What I love about Barre Out is that I can walk a little and run a little and work on running more each week. Last week for Elizabeth’s birthday, I joined in midway through a run and just decided to walk half way. Even with the walking, I got a good sweat, tingling in my legs (which usually means I am working muscles that I don’t normally work) and then got to do my favorite barre lunges. Yay! All the ladies were laughing, having a great time. It was just plan old fun!
So I asked Elizabeth what she loves about Barre Out and she said:
“I enjoy Barre Out because I get to be outside and get fresh air. I get to clear my mind. But what I love most about the class is that it brings together a group of ladies who support each other and help motivate each other. Everyone is at a different level, but we all push ourselves at that level and meet back together to execute out barre moves as a group.”
Thank you Elizabeth for making Barre Out so fun! Elizabeth teaches Thursday at 8:15 and we invite children to join in as well.
Kelly also teaches Barre Out on Wednesday Nights at 6pm. She also loves Barre Out because she gets to be outside, get the fresh air, and loves being able to get different muscles to work than in her daily Barre class. Join Kelly tonight at 6pm!!
If you have never tried Barre Out, try it this week! It’s a total body workout and and a great way to get a little extra sweat on!
As always, Sharing Barre Love at the Barre and Beyond!
