Gal Pal Spotlight
Lindsay S & Sara A
We asked these Barre Besties a few questions about their friendship! Read about their story here!
- Who is more likely to take an early morning class?
S: Probs both evenly.. so happy for early Mondays now, we are the Rooster Crew!
L: Both of us! We ARE the rooster crew! 🤣
2. Who usually asks if you’re taking class that night 1st?
S: Me because I am annoying and I worked all day and want to see my friends on zoom lol
L: Usually Sara texts me first
3. Who likes core more?
S: Lindsay loves it and i hate it. I complain the whole time and I will never ask for more abs and at home I lay on the floor pretend the screen is frozen maybe take a bathroom break… (I’m totally exaggerating ask Elizabeth)
L: Well we all know Sara cringes as I ask for more abs. She might not be my friend on those days. 🤣
4. How did you become friends?
S: At Barre commiserating over our exes. But then realized we had a lot more in common like how close we are to our families and the importance of our friends. Now we are good friends and reach out often for support or a laugh.
I want to share a recent laugh… I asked for fashion advice… I wore these pants to a massage appt and I was getting a little attention and didn’t understand why. So I posed the question to Lindsay. Everyone thought I wasn’t wearing pants today. What do you think? Pic #1 was what I sent first. Pic#2 was awhile later after I looked at my ring doorbell history and saw how everyone else saw me that day and was horrified.. the text back from Lindsay was basically lots of laughing emojiis and hahahas. You do look naked! You probably shouldn’t wear those out anymore. So I’ll just mess with everyone on zoom next time I decide to wear them. Friends don’t let friends wear nude leggings.
L: Through Barre and Beyond. I started with a friend from high school and would only go when she was there and then got to know Sara. I started as a VIP Unlimited in November of 2017 and I feel like Sara was a huge part of that because I knew she’d be there!
5. Favorite memory together?
S: My favorite memory is the Monday night crew for TRX. We had so many laughs in studio and we even set another barre beauty up with my brother because of it! I say WE here because I think everyone had a hand in that one. The glowstick nights were fun, the early mornings. Even on zoom our Monday nights are fun now with our group of ladies. My favorite memory with just Lindsay was finishing the barre bingo card right b4 covid hit last year.
L: We have lots of great memories. Monday Night Glow TRX was a good one. Monday nights always involved a lot of laughs. Our early mornings where we text all day about the class we just took or how sore we are. Or the time we completed our Bingo card together in 15 days on the last day of the studio being open before the pandemic.
6. How does she inspire/motivate you?
S: I think we are both pretty competitive so we compete against each other during challenges and we can never be on the same team because we both take a lot of classes but it’s all friendly and in good fun. The other thing about Lindsay is she’s got your back and she shows up when she says she will. See you in the morning for class even on zoom means exactly that. I’m not one to let my friends down so I’ll show up too because I said I would. Having a partner you can rely on helps keep the motivation there to keep going even when you don’t want to.
L: Sara inspires me by always showing up. I think people sometimes think we compete with each other, but I feel like we challenge each other. She keeps me going knowing she’s going to show up regardless of what’s going on.
7. What would tell someone who is hesitant to start barre?
S: What would I tell someone who is hesitant to start barre? Over 4 years ago I didn’t have a workout routine or a gym I belonged to. I knew I wanted to find a place and workout in a way I enjoyed. I gave myself a month to try Barre because I can do anything for a month right?. I think I was hooked halfway thru my first class. I have had to modify and backoff with injuries from an accident and a major surgery but I came back stronger! It’s certainly a workout you can do no matter your age or ability and I love the exercise and the Barre community we have.
L: I would say that it’s been a community of women that support, congratulate and help each other. Barre and Beyond came into my life when I needed it more than ever. I’ve said it before. Having been a gymnast, I was judged my whole life and I was hesitant to be in a group setting in my adulthood not wanting to feel that way again. I never imagined I could find such a judge free zone. Not only did I find that, but I ended up with Sara as one of my closest friends as well as a whole group of friends that hang out outside of Barre too! We’re so close that we have all even hung out virtually during shut downs!
