Donating + Giving + Sharing = Going Beyond the Barre
Sharing Barre Love. What does this mean? Well, it’s something I was raised doing with my family, my schools and other organizations I was a part of. It’s about giving to others, remembering others and sharing with others. As part of our culture, we give to those less fortunate, whether a food drive and Goodwill/Salvation Army donations, or being a member of an organization and donating time and ideas. Whatever makes the world a better place, I try to step in and be a part of whatever it is. Being a part of a community is important to me and my family and to give in any way that I can. Because of all the love you have for our studio, we can make small differences and share barre love with the rest of our community. Over the past 4.5 years, Barre + Beyond has been donating to raffles in local schools, organization and groups. We have done classes for school groups, public organizations, girl scouts and sports teams. We walk in events for national organizations. We give money to causes, both locally and nationally. We collect items such as school supplies, cleaning products, pet products and more. We even have helped with our own hands, cleaning and painting as part of a local housing group.
This month, our organization of choice is Chasing Dreams, a local organization providing learning programs for special needs children and adults. The idea came form our Dancing Like the Stars Contestant, Stephany Meredith, who is working so hard to compete to help the Duneland YMCA; and yes, we are working with three contestants this year, teaching choreographing, teaching and rehearsing; just another way we give back to the community. It was the end of August, and I was thinking about what organization we should help next and Stephany brought it up. I looked up Chasing Dreams and I knew they help many locally including Stephany’s family. So, for every time you check in on social media when you come to class, you are sharing the love with an organization that month and know that Barre + Beyond will donate $1.
This month is big for Sharing Barre Love. Between now and Oct 7th, we are creating a team for the Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk. Your donations are appreciated as we, as a team , are striving to make $500 this year. Donate $5+, walk with us, you and your family. In addition, we are leading the warm-up at the event on October 7th. It will be fun!
So Sharing Barre Love is always on the brain. With family in North Carolina; all ok right now, I want to do what we can to help. So Friday evening classes this week will be “by donation”; meaning you come to take the Friday 5pm Beginner Barre followed by the 6pm BFF at the Barre Ballet Class will be by donation. Whatever you donate, will be given to the American Red Cross Hurricane Florence Disaster Relief Fund. Spread the word about Friday and let’s Share Barre Love today, this week, this month, this year and always.
Thank you for Sharing Barre Love,
Orlee
