Meet Amy; Our Client Spotlight

Meet Amy!  I am very excited to have Amy as our Client Spotlight this month! Amy always has a smile on her face. She is positive and cheerful. When she comes to take class, she means business!  I know that no matter  what happened at work, travel, home she is going to work hard and take advantage of her time at the studio. She juggles family life, work life and has made a choice that healthy living is a priority.

But besides all her every day “stuff”,  Amy is also on the board of Girls on the Run. I love that she does this on the “side”.    If you did not know, Girls on the Run is way more than a running club for girls; it is a group that brings girls together and gives them the power to take charge of their lives. The organization’s goal is to give young girls the confidence that they can do whatever they set their mind to.  Girls on the Run’s vision is much in line with ours at the studio. So no wonder I love Amy! I love what she does, what she stands for and what she is setting up to do next. We are so proud of you and we look forward to you reaching 100 club VERY soon! When did you first start coming to Barre + Beyond ( Mind Over Matter Method Barre Classes)?

On January 7, 2018 I attended a “Sample Sunday”. I was in workout rut, bored with my “go to’s” at the gym and was looking for something new and challenging.

What got you “hooked” on Mind Over Matter Method Classes?

The “good” sore, feeling strong, and seeing results! The instructors are all fantastic….fun, encouraging, and supportive. I also really enjoy barre class and always look forward to going!

Have you seen changes in your physique?

Yes! My arms, my back, my legs, core strength. It is amazing! I’ve been maintaining a significant weight loss for nearly 17 years. The results that I am seeing with B+B are not results that I have seen with other workouts I’ve done.

How often do you take class?

My goal is 3 – 4 classes a week. The “Express” classes have been instrumental in allowing me to get my workouts in while, like all of us, balancing family, career, volunteer work, etc.

Have you ever taken a barre class before Barre + Beyond?

Yes, I was first introduced to barre in 2010 so I had an idea of what to expect. B+B has taken it up several notches from my previous experience by adding a variety of classes. I love the classes where I can add in a higher level of cardio and intensity, such as the Barre Bootcamp or Core + Cardio.   I add these classes in 1-2 times a week to add in extra cardio. I love running and I have found that Barre Out on Sunday’s is a perfect compliment to my weekly routine as well; running + barre= perfect!

Do you have any goals set for yourself in class?

You get out of barre what you put into it, so my goal for each class is to maximize the time I have for the class and continually challenge myself. I try and remember that class is “my time” and not wish for it to go fast because I have a lengthy to-do list although I am not always successful.

What would you tell someone that is hesitant to try a class?

Try it! I’ll go with you! The instructors provide modifications and explanations about what the movement is doing for the targeted area. It is for everyone and the results are worth it!

Thank you Amy for joining our studio! We love having you here and being a part of your fitness journey!
