Men, Women, Boys and Girls at the Barre

Who watches Sunday football? This past weekend, I was able to go the Colts game. I got there early and was able to watch all the players warm up.  I noticed that many of their warm-up moves are similar to those that we do here at Barre + Beyond. And I was so impressed with the stretches and how limber these players actually are.  They lunged; they held their squats;

I could only see theses husky football players taking that squat “up an inch and down an inch”.

You hear of football players taking ballet, but really they should be taking barre!  It would be great cross training, help with balance, flexibility, whole toning and sculpting muscles in maintain strength for a longer period of time. In the future…

Just because our studio is a female only studio, doesn’t mean that barre isn’t for everybody, men and women alike as well as girls and boys! Barre can and should be a family thing. I love when I see moms bring their daughters or daughters bring their mothers.  Exercise, fitness, healthy living is important for the entire family. When a mom is trying to make a change for herself, it is just as important to get support from the entire family. We recognize that exercise is a challenge and usually falls off the schedule first. Many reasons like money, time, change in schedule are the excuses but nobody really says is when there is a lack of support from the family. So support each other! As couples, make a commitment to each other to let one and then the other work out. Once in a while, we have partner barre, our “bring your beau to the barre”. So bring your beau to show him how hard you work. We also have bring your belle and we are excited about our new bring your boys to the barre. This will be a great chance to get your sons toning and sculpting and to see what their mommy’s are doing in the studio. You support their activities and they should support yours. You are not any less important than the other member in the family. So its okay to say, “I am going to Barre + Beyond and I’ll be back in an hour.” or like for next Friday night at 6pm, say “Hey son, do you want to come with me to barre? I would love to spend an hour with you there!” Either way, my two cents, exercise is a family thing. Support each other and it it makes it that much easier!
