The Perfect Match- Motherhood and M.O.M.s

The Perfect Match
Motherhoood and M.O.M.s {Mind Over Matter Studio}

I was pregnant with Liza when I was trying to come up with my studio name. “Motherhood” was definitely on the brain, so when {Mind Over Matter Studio} spelt “M.O.M.s”, I thought it was perfect but only now do I realize how perfect M.O.M.s and {Mind Over Matter Studio} really are.

What is a “M.O.M”? And what is a “mother”? Being a “mother” is more than giving birth, having a child or taking care of your offspring. To me, “motherhood” and being a “M.O.M.” is so much more. It is being a role model and setting a good example. It means taking care of one another and being selfless. It also goes deeper to being strong and standing up for what you believe in.

“What is a “M.O.M”? And what is a “mother”? Being a “mother” is more than giving birth, having a child or taking care of your offspring. To me, “motherhood” and being a “M.O.M.” is so much more.”

Every day, I wake up and my role as a mother begins immediately, with consoling Liza’s cries, toasting waffles, making lunches and brushing teeth. But once the girls are buckled up and off to their respective days, my motherly role does not disappear. As an instructor at the studio, I realize that my clients are looking to me for instruction, just as a child looks for instruction from their mother. I must motivate and inspire women to work hard. So you may see me get right in that chair position with you, my clients, so you are not alone. And then I also try to take class as well, and when I do, it wouldn’t behoove me to “cheat” in z-sit because I’m tired.  But I also must set the example that I know my limits. There is a balance and I must also set that example that I am only human and I may not be as strong as my neighbor.

“Every day, I must be that role model and set that example.”

I am also M.O.M.s ‘big mama’, so I must set the example for our team as well. I need to be involved and not only take care of the business aspect but everything down to changing the trash. I must set the example that M.O.M.s {Mind Over Matter Studio} is small business and in order for a small business to grow, we must all pitch in and work together. Together, we are successful.

“Being a mother also means caring about others and being selfless. My mother is a perfect example.”

Being a mother also means caring about others and being selfless. My mother is a perfect example. On a daily basis, she has to think about her health and her wellbeing; from how much insulin she has to take to motivating herself to exercise no matter how she is feeling. But despite her health conditions, she showed me by example that caring for others is as important as caring for herself. She always remembers other people’s birthdays, going above and beyond to make people individually feel special. On a grander scale, she always was selfless with her time and volunteer work in the arts community. As a mother of two girls, I want to show by example how to be selfless. And with the studio and our Share M.O.M.s Love initiative, I hope to inspire our clients and our women to give back to others individually, such a meal for a new mother or participating in a walk for cancer. By doing so, we not only better ourselves but we better the community we live in. We are being that “mother”; setting that example and sharing our love with others.

Being a mother is also being strong. Not physically in this sense, but mentally; to be a strong-willed person who stands up for what she believes in. Everyone always thought I was nuts opening a studio with a 6 week-old, but I was determined and I knew there was place for a studio like the one we created here in our special community. Along with all the help from my amazing team, we did it.

So why is being a “mother” and M.O.M.s. {Mind Over Matter Studio} a perfect pair? Being a mother is not that you have a child; it is being that person who sets the example, who is caring and who is strong. At M.O.M.s, your {Mind Over Matter Studio} let’s be a M.O.M. to all and be that role model; a selfless, strong person. I am proud of all of you for taking on that motherly role; for setting that example for other women, caring for them and being strong physically and mentally.

So take this Mother’s Day to not only thank your role model in your life but to continue to be that role model for others. I thank you, my clients and my team for being that role model for me; for being beautiful and strong inside and out. Thank you!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there and of course, all my M.O.M.s Ladies out there! I am proud of all of you!

All M.O.M.s love,
Orlee
