Tips to Make the Change

Change is hard.  It is not something that is easy to do.  Whether it is a big change, such as a new job, new school, or moving or whether it is a small change like a new teacher or new replacement snack. Either way, change is a part of life! I bring this up now because of the school year, but it applies to living a healthier life. To make a big lifestyle change, we need to make smaller changes. Both are challenging but it requires baby steps before the big change can happen. So whether is is winding down our summer and heading to enter into the school year or whether it is a lifestyle change such as working out and eating clean, here are some tips.
  1. Smile. Sometimes, we have to jump into doing something on our own; new school or new workout class. Stay confident. Put a smile on your face and you will be fine. Smiles send the signal that you are friendly and you never know who you will meet. At Barre + Beyond, we are pretty friendly, so no worries, you will find a friend!
  2. Bring a Buddy; Once you find a buddy, its is easier. So whether you found one in class or you bring one, it is a way easier to achieve your goals with a buddy. In the midst of chaotic weeks, it is nice to catch up for a few minutes before class and after or even grab a drink after class.
  3. Discipline: So anything new requires a bit of discipline; a littel self convincing to do something you may or may not want to do. Maybe it is fear. Or maybe you feel down. Push that aside and take the leap with teh smile and you will see once that discipline wears off, it will be a habit anyway so coming to that 5:15am class is just the norm.

Hope this helps!  Stay positive, make these small changes in your schedule, eating habits and  fitness routine and you will get the results you are looking for!
