Studio Team Spotlight- Rachel Illiovici

 

My first day meeting this beauty was at her sorority’s Pop-Up Barre Class in April 2017.  There she was in my left corner holding onto a chair, (no barre at PiPhi house…) a beautiful girl with a beautiful ballerina form. After class, I came up to her and let her know that I was looking for a summer intern. She immediately said yes to the position and we met to further discuss an internship project for this Valparaiso University business student. So Rachel came onto our team and learned front desk and so much more behind the scenes. As the business grew, we were searching for more instructors and our next instructor was standing right in front of me. Rachel was perfect. She is perfect. She is ambitious, eager, easy-going, friendly, always positive and hard working. With her dance background, her training was easy. In addition, the more on her plate the better.  As a dancer in her youth, she learned the skills to juggle her schoolwork, dance, long hours of rehearsal and a social life. And she was able to transfer these life skills here to our studio.  She is just a blessing to have on our team. She has moved on from her intern role, to apprentice and onto full instructor, leading 6 to 7 classes a week as well as functioning behind the scenes to help run our studio so smoothly. She is not only a fabulous instructor, she is a friend and really cares about her clients in class. On top of her time at the studio, she is helping our studio have a role in our community. Sharing Barre Love is a big part of what it means to be a Barre beauty. She is beautiful inside and outside and  so graciously offered her time to help with YMCAs Dancing like the Stars in November.  We are so blessed to have Rachel on our team and I’m extremely excited to see her growth with us over the next 3 to 5 years. You just wait! If you have never taken Rachel’s class, you will find her early-morning evenings beginners and lunch expresses. Just take her class to be your better self! Studio team spotlight – Rachel Illiovici

 

When did you start teaching at Barre + Beyond?

I  began teaching at the studio in December of 2017.

 

What do you love about the barre workout?

I love how you can make the workout your own and push yourself harder each time. I enjoy seeing our clients become stronger every time they come. I love being able to cheer them on after holding a minute plank for the first time!

 

Favorite class to teach?

My favorite class is the 45 min express because the burn never stops. It’s a fun, fast pace class, and I like to keep the clients motivated and moving.

 

Most memorable day at the barre?

My favorite day at the barre is fashion show day! When I first began working at the studio and we had our fabulous fashion show. I got to meet all of our clients and do what I love, sell our clothes. My most memorable moment as an instructor was when Annamarie held a side plank for the first time in my class!

 

How has life at barre affected your life outside of barre?

Thanks to the barre, I am a healthier person. I try to eat right and I motivate my friends to workout and eat right too. I have also become a morning person thanks to my 5:15 classes! Overall I have more energy. Everyone at the studio has been such an inspiration in my life. Thanks to these amazing ladies, I know I am a strong women and can accomplish anything I put my mind to.

 

If someone takes your class, what should they expect?

Expect a fast paced, high energy class! Always expect a final hold and to push yourself a little bit further.

 

What’s your guilty pleasure?

I love getting my nails done with extravagant designs.

 

What do you do for fun?

For fun, I love spending time with my friends, whether it be shopping or sitting around a bonfire. Over the summer I love going to musical festivals across the country.
