Seat Work @ the Barre!

Girls just want to have lifted buns, right? It even says it above our barre!  As always, form is extremely important in class, and we want to talk about seat work at the barre today.  This exercise is very important at M.O.M.s Method because it is so effective.

Bring your ball to the barre with you, and place it in the back of your knee.  Face the barre and place your elbows on it leaning forward and resting your head on your arms.  Bend your leg and bring your foot upward in a point position creating a parallel line from your hip to your knee.  By slightly bending  your supporting leg and tucking the pelvis under, you will help protect your lower back.  It might bring your leg down slightly, but it will allow you to literally see your tush lifting!  You will make a very small movement poking your foot to the ceiling, and you will feel your glute muscles contract with each tiny little movement.   Our instructors will give you variations of this exercise, and you may squeeze the ball, or bring your legs in working those inner thigh muscles as well (we work everything ladies, no muscles are safe from the burn in our studio!).

As always our instructors will help you find the perfect form and once you get it there is no going back (it’s like winning the lifted buns lottery)!  So the next time you are in class and find yourself in this position you will enjoy watching those glute muscles contract and know that you are working so hard to “be your better self”!
